Loosey's Story
Loosey is an incredibly sweet girl who simply can’t get enough chin scratches, belly rubs, and affection. She’s a certified head-butter and a world-class purr machine. While she absolutely loves human attention, she’s still very shy and prefers to enjoy that love quietly—tucked into a cozy cubby or perched high above us where she feels safe and in control.

Loosey is not aggressive in the slightest. The challenge isn’t people—it’s noise and chaos. A busy shelter environment is simply too much for her, and it’s clear she would thrive with a calm, gentle companion and a quieter home. She seems lonely at times, and I truly believe she would blossom with someone who is home often, has a less active or older cat, and—most importantly—the patience to let her build trust at her own pace. Once Loosey knows she has her person, it won’t take long at all for her walls to come down.

Now, if you shared this description with her rescuer, Deb, she’d likely shake her head in disbelief. The ever-elusive Loosey once ruled her northeast-side neighborhood with confidence and flair. Born in April of 2021, she spent several years running the streets, bossing around the local males who followed her like lovesick puppy dogs. In fact, we took in her brother, Johnny Be Good, and several would-be suitors long before Loosey finally decided that cold weather and nonsense were no longer her style. Go figure.

Indoor life definitely threw her for a loop at first—but now, lovely Loosey is safe, surrounded by humans who adore her and spoil her daily, making up for all that time she once preferred the streets to the comfort of a cubby. She remains timid and skittish, trusting only a small handful of people, but with gentle consistency and understanding, she shows just how much love she has to give.

In the right quiet home—especially one with another cat like herself—I truly believe Loosey would flourish. She may never be the life of the party, but she has the potential to become someone’s deeply devoted, affectionate companion once she feels safe and understood. 💛
