Loki's Story

SPECIAL NEEDS - FELINE LEUKEMIA POSITIVE

In the summer of 2024 when a young cat in Loki’s foster home tested positive for the Feline Leukemia Virus, we decided to err on the side of caution and have all the cats in the home tested. We were devastated when Loki’s test was positive. It was completely unexpected. Although the other cat (Cher) had tested positive, the two had never been together. But just like Cher, we will not give up on Loki. With good care – balanced diet, indoors only, health checks and LOVE – feline leukemia positive cats can still have a life. The virus is not transferable to humans nor any other species. He should live in a home where he is an only cat or one where there is already a Feline Leukemia positive cat.

PAW will cover all veterinary costs and will be available to respond for any reason. Caring for and loving a little cat like Loki – no matter the duration – is a vital part of rescue. It’s also the part you don’t hear a lot about because it is very SAD to know their life is likely to be shorter than hoped. But young Loki doesn’t know anything about sad. He greets each day in his usual happy way, living large in each moment. We want the same for him as any other cat – to know love for as long as that may be.

We would be very grateful if someone were to be interested in giving Loki a permanent foster home. He will return your love a thousand fold. In all ways, he is a truly remarkable young cat.

History:

Loki came to be with PAW when his pregnant mother was taken in. His other siblings and his mom have all been adopted.

Loki is also very social with people, trusting and sweet-tempered. When play time is over, he’ll want to be on your lap or your shoulder or sleep beside you in your bed. He’s a super nice little fellow. His lovely black coat is soft and glossy.

He would be a wonderful friend for a lucky human family.

If you would like to inquire about providing a permanent foster home for Loki, please send an inquiry.
