LOCAL CAT! Noodle's Story

PLEASE NOTE: As of 12/9, we have two applications for Noodle. We are following up and hope to have a visit scheduled soon. If interested, in the event neither application works out, please see instructions below,

PLEASE NOTE, IMPORTANT: Please submit all inquiries and applications to clayvillecritters@cox.net. The email on the application is the general shelter email, and animal control is using up their personal time off this month — if you send your inquiry or application to the email printed on the application, it might not be seen for a few days.

NOODLE came to the shelter in mid-November, after she and her two cat mates lost their home when their human companion passed away. She was a bit timid at first, shy about coming out of her cage, while her two cat mates were a bit bolder and more outgoing. It soon became clear to us that all three cats were fairly independent of each other, and Noodle in particular enjoyed spending time alone with her new human friends, away from the other two cats she came in with. It also became clear that she was the submissive one in the family, as the other two seemed to pick on her a bit. And here, at the shelter, she had a chance to be number 1 with some of her new human friends. So, we have established that this is a family of cats who need not be adopted together, particular in Noodle’s case.

In the early days, we’d bring Noodle into the kitten playroom, where she could spend some time one-on-one with her volunteers, and also with another timid cat, who she seemed to find comfort in. Now she’s more outgoing in the larger cat room, not as intimidated by the two she came in with, and is exploring more, and being a little bolder about coming to us for attention. She really loves her human friends, even while she is still a little wary of getting a slap from one of her cat mates if they think she’s getting attention that they seek.

Noodle is a very, very sweet cat, a robust, chubby girl, but in a good, healthy way. She will do well with other cats who are of a similar nature and won’t mind a companion, and also with people of all ages, including young children, or a lonely senior. She’ll just need a little time to adjust to any new home, just like she did at the shelter. If she is the only cat in the home, her adjustment will go faster. We’re not sure how she feels about dogs, but she never lived with one, and at this point in her life would probably prefer a home without a dog.

Noodle is 5–6 years old, and is spayed, box-trained, current on vaccinations, tested negative for FIV and feline leukemia, and received de-wormers and flea treatments. Adoption fee is $50. Personal checks are accepted from R.I. residents only; all others may pay by credit/debit card or money order, payable to “Town of Scituate.” No cash is accepted.

For more information or an application, email ClayvilleCritters@cox.net or call the shelter at (401) 647-7200. You can also visit the shelter during regular hours: Tue, Wed, Thu, Fri 7 to 11 a.m., Sat 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Please call before dropping by, to make sure the shelter is open and not closed due to animal control vacation hours.

You can also access a downloadable application by clicking this link, or by going to the Town of Scituate’s Animal Control page and scrolling down to the link to the Cat Adoption Form:
https://www.scituateri.gov/departments/animal_control/index.php

Or copy and paste the following into your browser: https://cms5.revize.com/revize/townofscituate/scituate%20ri%20cat%20adopt%20form%20rev%200922.pdf

Please email all PDF applications to ClayvilleCritters@cox.net for faster processing.
