LOCAL CAT! Figgy Pudding's Story
Figgy Pudding came to the shelter shortly before Christmas, and though she was very timid at first, it wasn’t long before we realized how sweet she is, and decided to give her a sweet holiday name for her shelter name. She really is a sweet little cat — though she is shy at first, and doesn’t yet come to us, Figgy is very easy to pick up and loves to be held and cuddled kissed, loves to sit on a lap and be stroked and comforted. She’s getting braver each day, exploring the cat room a little before climbing the towers to take a cozy spot on top of the cages. She eats in front of us and grooms in front of us after she gets some love, a sure sign that she’s comfortable with her volunteers, even if she is a little guarded about the shelter environment.

In a home, she can be expected to hide at first, but will come out more with each passing day, as she gets more comfortable in a new home. She is very fond of other cats, so a home with a cat who is in need of a feline companion would be ideal for Figgy. We’re not sure how she feels about dogs, but cats like Figgy usually adjust to living with a dog, provided the dog is accustomed to cats and is not aggressive towards them. She will do well in homes with people of all ages, though small children will have to understand that she will need time and space to adjust to the new home.

Though she is a bit round, she’s actually a bit of a “tiny” lady — tiny ears, tiny face, tiny tail, with a bit of a round black barrel in between. She looks like a cute little cartoon cat!

Figgy Pudding is estimated to be 2 years old, is spayed, box-trained, current on vaccinations, tested negative for FIV and feline leukemia, and received de-wormers and flea treatments. Adoption fee is $50. Personal checks are accepted from R.I. residents only; all others may pay by credit/debit card or money order, payable to “Town of Scituate.” No cash is accepted.

For more information or an application, email ClayvilleCritters@cox.net or call the shelter at (401) 647-7200. You can also visit the shelter during regular hours: Tue, Wed, Thu, Fri 7 to 11 am, Sat 10 am to 3 pm (or Sun and Mon by private appointment).
