LITTLE SPITFIRES, Sassy and Salty

PLEASE NOTE: Spicy and Spooky have been adopted, but Sassy and Salty are still available!<br/><br/>THE LITTLE SPITFIRES: Sassy, Salty, Spicy and Spooky were brought to the shelter a few weeks ago by a Good Samaritan who has been attending to the needs of a growing family of strays on her property. But this litter proved to be a little too much for her to handle on her own, so she brought them to us for socialization. Within a few days we were able to pick them up, swaddle them and cuddle them, and bring them into the kitten playroom for more social interaction with humans. Oh, they were little spitfires for sure, at first! But one by one, they gave in to our affections, and now are ready to move on from the shelter and into the hands of capable adopters who understand the needs of such kittens. The three males, Salty, Spicy and Spooky, are all pretty well-adjusted to our handling by now, and are very social with other kittens, and playful with the volunteers, and cry to be let out of their cage when the volunteers arrive. They are still a little hesitant when approached — they just sit and wait for us to pick them up, but they don’t retreat from us. Sassy, the one female, still resists us a bit, but only for a moment, and then she consents to being held, and brought into the playroom for some liberty from her cage. She will probably progress faster, socially, once she is separated from her brothers. The kittens are, for the most part, all black, but Salty has more of a “dusty” coloring around his torso, with black head, boots and tail. They are adoptable individually, or as litter mates, should you desire a pair!<br/><br/>Each kitten will do well in a home with other cats — they will easily bond with another cat, so if you have a lonely cat in need of a submissive little companion, any of these kittens will fulfill that need. They should adjust to living with a dog as well, as long as the dog is not aggressive towards smaller creatures. The kittens will thrive in the company of older children, who will understand their needs, but smaller children will need to understand that the kittens will need time to adjust to a new home, and won’t be ready for cuddling and play until they do adjust. <br/><br/>The kittens are now about 13 weeks old, and have not yet seen a vet or been tested, as they are too young for spay/neuter. There is no adoption fee for these kittens, but a state-mandated $100 spay/neuter deposit is required, which is fully refundable upon proof of spay/neuter. Adopter assumes all medical costs.
