Litmus's Story

Our handsome, gentle giant Litmus came to us from a large group of strays. From his chubby cheeks to his old battle scars, this 5 year olds body tells the story of a life spent surviving the streets, fighting for food and shelter. Likely, he has never known the comfort and love of a home. When Litmus first arrived, he was terrified and shut down, seeking safety by hiding in his litter box. He then grew a little braver, retreating to the highest shelves, where he could only be reached with a two-foot-long brush. But then, almost overnight, Litmus discovered that people are friends, not foes. Now, this once-frightened boy is affectionate, friendly, and eager for connection, often rubbing up against the legs of visitors. Being neutered certainly helped him relax, but his sweet and loving nature has always been there, just waiting to shine!

Litmus has said goodbye to his street days and is now ready to enjoy the safety, love, and warmth of a furrever home. He gets along well with other cats and would be comfortable with gentle, respectful children. Litmus is a pro at using his litter box. Due to his FIV+ status, Litmus is eligible for our Permanent Foster Program, which means we will cover all of his medical bills for life as long as he is brought to one of our veterinarians in Maple Ridge. We are happy to share more details with you when you come to meet Litmus.

To learn more about Litmus or to arrange a visit at the shelter, please reach out or fill out an application. You are also welcome to visit us during our Open House, held every Sunday from 12–3 pm.
