Lisa's Story

Lisa
Spayed Female
1 year old
Polydactyl! (Extra toes!)

This petite tabby girl is about 1 year old, and when she came to the rescue a month and a half ago, she was already nursing kittens. It's likely she had her babies at only 7 months old, when she was just a baby herself. Unfortunately, it's very common for feline teen moms to have complications with their litters, either before or after birth. In Lisa's case, only 2 of her babies survived. Cats can go into heat and get pregnant as young as 4 months old So to prevent unwanted, dangerous kitten pregnancy, it's best to spay and neuter cats before 6 months of age!

Lisa is an exceptionally lovey, playful little girl who is finally getting to be a kitten. She really enjoys canine company (Like our founder's dog Nugget!), and being around other cats of all shapes and sizes. She has let volunteers pick her up, swing her around, and smooch her cute lil face! All attention is good attention in her eyes, so we think kids would be totally fine as housemates.

If you've looked closely at the photos, you may have noticed Lisa has a couple extra toes- She also happens to be a polydactyl cat! Spare beans! She put those fancy paws to work at a Cat Show this month, and placed 5th overall in the household pet division. She was great with all the visitors, judges handling her, and coming out for the day for such a social event. Because of this, we think she'd take to harness training super easy!

Since her babies have stopped nursing, Lisa recently went for her spay. She will get maybe one more round of kitten vaccines, then be ready to take up residence in your arms. She is microchipped and current on flea & tick prevention as well. If you'd like to meet this sweet girl (and her extra thumbs), please send us a message, or fill out an adoption application over on our website!
