Link's Story

Meet Link, a handsome guy with a soft spot for snacks. Link was found as a local stray, so human friends are still a bit of a new concept to him, but he's learning to trust a little more every day. Link might be a little unsure at first, but give him some time (and maybe a tasty treat), and you'll start to see his curious, sweet side come out. Food is definitely the way to his heart, and he's more than willing to be won over with a good snack. Link is looking for a patient adopter who understands that trust takes time. The payoff? Elmbrook Humane Society's Adoption Policy

If you would like to adopt an animal in our care, the first step is to complete our adoption application. Applications can be filled out online or in person and are reviewed same-day (as long as they are received during business hours). We are open for viewing from 1-6pm every day*. While there is no appointment needed to walk through the shelter and view all of the animals, appointments will be required to meet and/or adopt. Appointments can be made same-day when available or scheduled up to a week in advance with an approved application. Operating by appointment allows us to provide the best possible care for the animals and service to you. We encourage all family members in the household to meet the adoptable animal prior to adoption (this may be required for certain animals). If you are adopting a dog and have another dog in your household, we encourage you bring in your dog to meet their potential new companion (this may be required for certain dogs). *The shelter is closed on holidays and the last day of every month. **Beginning in 2026, the shelter will be closed on the last Tuesday of every month.
