LEO's Story
PLEASE READ ALL OF THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION BELOW. IT WILL ANSWER ALL YOUR QUESTIONS. If you still have questions after, we are happy to respond through email.

It is a long read and a long adoption process. Please understand we are ensuring that our babies go to great homes and we don't know you personally (yet). Understand that this is an adoption of a beautiful little soul that deserves the absolute best life.

The average lifespan of a cat is 13 to 20 years. Some cats even live into their thirties, although this is far less common. So don't let that discourage you from adopting an adult cat!

LEO and PEPPER have had a rough life already. They were from a Lawndale colony of outdoor cats. The people were super nice. The trapper TNR’D 6 cats that were all adults. LEO and PEPPER were too small to be returned. They deserved a chance to be adopted. And the fact that they had 3 other siblings that were killed by the neighbors running them over was the reason we saved them.

LEO is now ready to be adopted. LEO is very playful and your typical orange tabby. While there's no hard and fast research to back it up, it's long been believed that male cats tend to be friendlier than female cats, and with 80% of orange tabbies being male, that could why they have a reputation for being super affectionate.

Apparently, there’s an old legend about baby Jesus who, when he couldn’t sleep, was comforted by a warm and purring orange tabby. The story goes that this little feline made such an impression on the young child that Mother Mary kissed the cat on the forehead, leaving the letter “M” in its fur (some retellings actually state that Mother Mary drew her first initial on the cat’s forehead with a gentle finger).

LEO: The sweet, shy heart!!!

LEO is a survivor with a story that will touch your heart. He was rescued from a tough life on the streets of Lawndale, where he endured hardship alongside his siblings and his sister PEPPER. Having already faced loss and trauma, LEO is a gentle and sensitive boy who has made incredible strides in learning to trust and embrace the comforts of indoor life.

His personality:

A quiet observer: LEO is on the shyer side, but his sweetness shines through once he feels safe. He loves to observe his surroundings and is most comfortable in a calm and quiet environment where he can feel secure. The way to his heart: This boy's love language is food and gentle pets. He responds eagerly to treats and appreciates quiet, gentle affection from people he knows and trusts. His past trauma means he may never be a "social butterfly," but the love he gives is deep and true.

A foodie with a flair: Don't let his quiet nature fool you—LEO knows what he wants! He will let you know in no uncertain terms with a vocal announcement when he sees you with his beloved wet food.

Playful and curious: He is a playful spirit who enjoys toys and games that bring out his inner kitten. Having spent time in a cattery, he is accustomed to the routines of indoor life and is ready to explore a forever home at his own pace.

His ideal home:

LEO is looking for a patient and understanding adopter who will love him just the way he is. He needs a home that can offer a quiet room for him to decompress and get comfortable, and a family who will give him space and affection on his terms. A home with another calm feline friend. The ideal family will appreciate the quiet joy of watching a once-fearful cat learn to accept and give love.

LEO is DOMESTIC SHORT HAIR / TABBY MIX. He is about 3 years 1 month old and is good with cats. He has never been around dogs or young children.

LEO is currently at our rescue in Hemet, California.

ADOPTION PROCESS:

1.
