Leah's Story

This beautiful mama and her two kittens were rescued from an overcrowded animal control in Oklahoma where they were at risk of euthanasia. They made the long trip to NAWS with hopes of finding safe and loving forever homes.

Leah was a wonderful and nurturing mama to her two kittens although it appeared she had lived a hard life up to this point. Despite going through a lot, this little gal was still a hero mama!

Leah now needs a compassionate adopter that wants to pamper her and make her life better. She is an incredible example of what rescue is all about - giving a home to a very deserving cat that needs a bit of help. She needs a hero herself!

When she first arrived at NAWS, Leah was suffering from an ear infection - based on the mangled look of one of her ears, it likely had been an aggravating problem in her past. We are so happy we were able to make her ears feel better. Leah is in need of some dental work - she is missing several teeth and will likely need most, if not all, of her remaining teeth pulled to live comfortably. We are now hoping to find an adopter for Leah that will be devoted to her care and giving her the best life going forward. She is worth it!

According to her foster, Leah has come so far during her time in a foster home. She actively seeks out pets and loves to be by her foster's side. She is not super cuddly but LOVES head pets and nose scratches. She will even grab her foster's hand and pull it to her head for more pets. She will rub up against her foster. She would prefer a quieter home and would do best with a cat savvy adopter that respects her independence and accepts that she wants attention on her terms.
She has a lot of personality with a bit of sass mixed in! She loves laser pointers, fuzzy balls, catnip toys and curling up under blankets. Her favorite activities are mealtimes and sleeping in comfy beds.

Leah is FIV positive. She needs to be the only cat in a home, live with other FIV positive cats, or possibly live with other non-aggressive cats (she would do best with ones that are independent as well). She adores her kittens, which are now old enough to be adopted, and would love if you consider adopting her with one or both of them.

Can you be Leah's hero? She will be a devoted and grateful companion to the adopter that helps her feel safe, healthy and loved.

Want to help care for her while she waits to find her forever home? You can be a "Sponsor!" Click on the "sponsor" button on this profile and your one-time donation will be used for vital everyday essentials such as her food, litter and medical care! Thank you for helping save lives!

All NAWS cats are spayed/neutered, micro-chipped and up to date on vaccines.

A Cat Adoption Application is required should you decide you’d like to apply to adopt a NAWS cat. Please complete and submit the application electronically on our website at http://www.nawsus.org.
