Layla's Story

Layla is a cute, loving, slightly sassy, front declawed 12 year old. She is loving her grandma years and believes she runs any kingdom she enters. She does try to enforce a bedtime by corralling you toward the bedroom between 8:30-10pm (depending on her schedule that day). She will sleep at your feet once she gets to know you. Sometimes she will sit on a pillow near your head and purr to ensure you are falling asleep, before she assumes her nightly position. Once you're safely up the next morning, her guard duties complete, she goes to sleep for a bit in her bed in the closet. She does need a little stool or mini stairs to be able to jump up into your bed or onto your couch, since she has arthritis. This is managed with a monthly Solensia injection at the vet. She also loves her nightly Cosequin supplement sprinkled into a packet of wet food. She has no litter box issues, and we have continued her preference of Pine or Okocat litter (again... her age warrants preferences). Once she warms up, she enjoys interacting with kids who can handle her gently. She came from a home with a couple big dogs with no issues, but she does get a little stressed given her age, so it would be ideal for her to be able to have distance from dogs if she prefers a moment to herself. She would likely not do well with other cats. Again - preferences. Could you be the forever home for this sweet sassy kitty?

She is FIV/FeLV negative and the rest of her bloodwork, stool, and urine diagnostics showed no special needs.

Adoption fee is $25.00 which includes spay/neuter, age-appropriate vaccines/cares, and microchip. Layla came into rescue already front de-clawed.

If you would like to meet, please complete an online application that can be found at: https://hopeanimalrescueofiowa.duplie.com/forms/198/hope-cat--application
