How Our Adoption Process Works Step 1: Start with the Adoption Application The first step is to complete our https://12inchtails.com/adopt Important: Once completed, email your application to 12inchtails@gmail.com so we can review it promptly and move forward. Step 2: Reference and Background Checks To ensure every pet’s safety, we carefully review all applications, which includes: - Veterinarian Check: If you have (or had) pets, we’ll contact your vet to confirm their care history. - Landlord Approval: If you rent, we’ll verify that pets are allowed in your residence. - Personal References: We’ll reach out to the references you provide to get a better sense of your experience with animals and your readiness to adopt. Step 3: Meet and Greet Once your application is approved, we’ll set up a meet-and-greet with the pet you’re interested in. Step 4: Health Records Review We believe in full transparency. We’ll share the pet’s complete medical history, including vaccinations, spay/neuter status, and any treatments they’ve received. Step 5: Home Visit (if required) In special cases—like pets with unique needs—we may schedule a home visit to ensure the environment is safe and supportive. Step 6: Adoption Counseling Our team is here to answer questions, provide tips, and ensure you feel confident about bringing your new pet home. Step 7: Sign the Adoption Agreement When it’s a perfect match, we’ll finalize the adoption with an agreement that outlines the commitment to care for your new furry family member. Step 8: Adoption Fee The adoption fee helps cover the cost of medical care, vaccinations, spay/neuter surgery, microchipping, and more—giving your new pet the best start in life.
