Kitty's Story

Hi… my name is Kitty

I don’t remember much about how I ended up outside, only that I was hurt and very scared. Something bad happened to me — a fight, an accident, maybe both — and I was left with a painful wound on my left ear.

When one of the shelter’s team members family found me, I wasn’t in great shape… but I held on. I’m so glad I did.
They took me home, cared for me, and showed me kindness when I needed it most. My ear is healing now, and every day I feel a little stronger. Saying goodbye was hard — that family member cried when they had to bring me to the shelter — and honestly, I did too. That’s how much love there already is around me.

I’m the kind of girl who leans into affection, who wants to be close, who will curl into your heart before you even realize it’s happening. I love people. I love gentle voices, soft touches, and feeling safe. I promise, if you meet me, I will change you.

Because of DEM requirements, I do need to complete a six-month confinement period, which will take me to the end of May. That means I need to be kept separate from other pets for now — but it doesn’t mean I have to stay in the shelter. I can go to a Foster-to-Adopt home, where I can heal, relax, and finally feel what it’s like to belong.. Right now they luckily got me in a foster home so I can relax there while I’m waiting for my forever home. That means the end of May I will be able to be spayed and finalized with vaccines.

For more information and instructions on how to apply, please visit https://thepetrefuge.org/adopt/. Completing an adoption application is always the first step. Shelter visits are by appointment only and available to applicants whose applications have been approved.
We also invite you to follow us on social media: Facebook at Pet Refuge, TikTok at @petrefugenk, and Instagram at @petrefugeri.
