Kishka's Story
***Kishka does so much better with the company of a confident, social cat, and must have one such kitty in her forever home now that Kai has been adopted.

Kishka was probably from the litter born before Kai and Keiko, as all three tabbies look very similar. Being a little older, she was rescued well beyond the easy socialization period, and is needing a lot more time and focused attention to relax her guard.

With infinite patience and much coaxing, this beautiful girl is warming up to people despite her ingrained shyness and cautious nature. She spent the first few days after arriving at her foster home hiding under a blanket; but after weeks of watching Kai roll around, playing happily and enjoying pats, Kishka is starting to emerge from her shell to engage with her new world. Although touch still makes her nervous, once trust is established, she allows it to happen especially if Kai is also getting some love. A little more patience and time, and she will open up even more! All the positive signs are pointing that way, and with Kai’s easygoing company, Kishka is now playing with toys and rolling around with Kai when people are not around.

Now at the adoption centre and missing Kai’s reassuring presence (she was adopted!), Kishka is slowly adjusting to the new noisy environment and constant parade of new faces. However, this brave little soul is doing her best in accepting gentle pets and slow blinks, gladdening our hearts that she too, wants to engage and be loved.

Currently, Kishka is eating a mix of dry kibble and wet food well, and has great litter habits. This wary and watchful cat has great potential to become a cherished member of a household of patient and loving people. With a friendly cat as her confidence booster and support buddy in her new home, Kishka is looking forward to a secure space where she can fully belong at last.

Would you like to make Kishka a part of your family? Please complete our online application found at: https://www.avacats.org/adoption-application-form.

Our adoption fees cover vetting and include spay/neuter, vaccines (initial FVRCP and rabies), flea treatment, two dewormings and microchipping.

Adoption fees are $250 for each adult cat 1 year or older. Please note that fees may apply for additional required vaccinations (at $75 per booster) due prior to adoption. Total adoption fees will be confirmed by the AVA Adoption Coordinator.
