Kingfisher's Story

Kingfisher is another of our bird litter. Kingfisher is the "king" of the "gotcha" game and will come out of nowhere to grab ahold of his human's leg. Like his brother, Merlin, Kingfisher loooooves wet food and tries to help his human with preparations. He also likes to try and sneak some bites from his human's food during mealtimes. He is generally independent and will find ways to occupy his time. But Kingfisher will also enjoy a good snuggle and playtime with his human. Since he likes to grab legs, multiple hiding spots would be great to have. He also likes to climb, so a tall cat tree or other climbing spots would be nice in his furever home. Kingfisher is playful and likes to wrestle with his siblings.

Edit: 6/18/25 Kingfisher had matured into quite a lovely young cat. He will only play the "gotcha" game on rare occasions these days. His snuggle sessions with his human have been occurring more often and he will mew if he isn't done getting scritches. Kingfisher will still be playful with is siblings, but he also loves snuggling with them, Chickadee in particular. He still is food driven, which means he could easily be trained to do some tricks or certain behaviors, so long as he gets a reward. Kingfisher has been enjoying watching the neighborhood wildlife and feeling the breeze flow through his fur on the catio. One of his new favorite things is to lounge and nap in a carrier that hasn't been put away. Throw some treats in there from time to time and he will easily be crated to go to the vet or a road trip.

He is fixed, combo and rabies vaccinated, dewormed, flea treated, and has combo tested negative. Would you love to have him stay with you furever? If so, please fill out an application here: https://www.appalachianpeacepaws.org/adopt

Appalachian Peace Paws Rescue's Adoption Policy
Adopters fill out a simple digital application that includes a home check, two references, landlord verification, and vet references. A volunteer makes sure the applicant can have animals where they live, that all household members are in agreement, that references feel they are ready for a pet, that they can take financial responsibility for a new pet, and that they have properly cared for pets they've had in the past. Once this is done an in person or virtual home check is done and the successful applicant is asked to make a donation (required amounts vary by species) to help offset our costs and the applicant can arrange to take their new family member home.
