Kin's Story

Meet Kin!

His previous owner no longer wanted him. They gave Big Bear shelter staff a million excuses in April 2024, painting this handsome, well-mannered 2-year-old stunner of a black panther in the most unflattering colors. Their portrait of him bore NO resemblance to the fantastic boy we've grown to know and love. Despite his confusion, he did his best to remain rosy, but after two months of waiting for someone to take notice and adopt him, his mood turned blue. That's when Kitty Devore Rescue, a dedicated team of animal lovers, decided enough was enough. We made the trek up the mountain to rescue him and give him a chance at a rosier life.

At the beginning of his foster stay, Kin was reserved and nervous. He hid and shied from all sudden movements. Some days, all his foster mom could find were his big yellow owl eyes watching her every move. But with the right environment and love, he blossomed into a sweet, affectionate lovebug, a transformation that fills us with hope for his future. While his constant shocked stare says otherwise, he enjoys the quiet life, lounging in the sun or participating in his favorite activity, flopping on his side for some well-deserved cheek scratches – but no cuddles, please! As he learns to cat again, we know he'd prefer a quiet, patient home with accepting people who will indulge his tiny squeaks as he communicates his preferences, including catnip, spring toys, a water bottle cap, and back scratches.

If you're ready to welcome a charming little (big) shadow into your life who will surprise you with rainbows, Kin is the perfect feline companion for you! Don't hesitate to complete an adoption application today at www.kittydevorerescue.org and start your journey with Kin.
