Kiki and Elvira's Story
??BONDED PAIR??
Meet Kiki (the white and tabby) and Elvira (the dilute tortie), another one of our extremely special cases.
Elvira came to us very shy and shut down, and our amazing volunteer Shay worked with her every day to try and help her come out of her shell. It is still very timid and likes her people, cue miss Kiki.
She came to us as a very tiny and sick kitten. At the time we thought it was upper respiratory, a very common issue in overcrowded shelters, but she never seemed to get over it and kept wheezing and gurgling. Turns out it wasnt upper respiratory, but seems like she gulps air which has caused issues for her health. Unfortunately there is no cure for it, but Kiki does not let it keep her down!
So Shay had the brilliant idea to put them together to help socialize Elvira and give Kiki a buddy to keep her spirits up during multiple trials with different medications.
Turns out it worked! and now they're inseparable! They live together in our office kennel and many times we catch them snuggled together while sleeping and they love to play together.
We knew deep down we could never separate them.
Elvira is a little over a year, spayed and fully vetted, and Kiki is only a couple months younger at about 11 months. She is up to date on her vaccines, but we have not spayed her yet as we are waiting on our vets approval.
Since they are a bonded pair, their adoption fee would be $80 rather than $100, and we are going to be very strict with their application due to Kikis medical condition to make sure she can continue to get the proper care she needs.
If you are interested in this pair of lovely girls, you can apply for them at amherstanimalshelter.org/adopt
