Katniss's Story
Mrs. Katniss Fluffington is a 13 year old dignified, slightly grumpy old lady who knows exactly what she likes. She is not a lap cat, does not wish to be held, and would much rather relax in a quiet cat cave than endure excessive cuddling. She has very little patience for nonsense. And yet, somehow, she is an absolute rolly polly delight.

Kat came to Hospice Hearts Animal Rescue in 2020 when her previous owner was no longer able to care for her. She spent some time in foster care with a dog and they peacefully co existed. She was then adopted into a calm, loving home where she was well cared for until her adopter was no longer able to keep her. Now Kat is back with HHAR and looking for her next soft place to land.

Kat would prefer to be the only cat in the household and is happiest in a peaceful, quiet environment with gentle people who respect her boundaries. She arrived at HHAR with a grade 3 heart murmur, but veterinary notes indicate that after her 2020 adoption, the murmur was no longer detected.

I have only been fostering Kat for a couple of weeks, so we are still getting to know each other, but she is endlessly entertaining. She is extremely expressive, with a wide range of meows, the occasional dramatic howl, rare grumbles, and lots of strong, happy purring. While she is not overtly affectionate, she purrs loudly and enthusiastically when I enter her room.

Kat spends much of her time tucked under chairs, desks, and cozy cat caves, but she will come out to join me in the living room for relaxed play sessions. Her favorite activity is lazily swatting at a fuzzy worm toy on a fishing line, and she takes her playtime very seriously.

She allows petting on her terms and sometimes even enjoys a gentle belly rub when she is in the mood. She will let you know clearly when she has had enough. She can be picked up briefly, though she has many opinions about it and makes them known, so we keep those moments short.

Mrs. Katniss Fluffington is looking for a home that appreciates a cat with strong opinions, a sense of humor, and a lot of personality packed into a fluffy senior package. If you are seeking a companion who prefers quiet company over constant attention, Kat may be your perfect match.

Interest in adopting Katniss?
