Katniss's Story
<p>Katniss and her brother Peeta were found in the ditch alongside the highway between Washington, NC and Grimesland. The young man, who glimpsed them as he was driving along, was wonderful! He stopped to rescue them, and since he was driving a jeep with the top down, he had to use his head to figure a way to carry them to safety. So he stuck them down an extra pair of jeans he had in the jeep, and tied up both ends! The kittens were very fluffy longhairs, born in April 2012, and were quickly adopted. Sadly, the family who adopted Katniss returned her to us just over a year later, due to a job relocation and renting a home where they could not keep pets. Katniss was quite sad at first, and pretty confused. She didn't understand why she lost her family and home, and why she was suddenly in an entirely new home surrounded by other kitties. She didn't want to eat anything, but was still very loving and gentle. After much affectionate tender care from her foster mom, Katniss finally realized that she was safe, and she began eating again. She's a small girl, weighing just over 5 pounds, and her fur is amazing! It's so soft and long, but with no mats at all. Katniss loves to be held, and not only does she purr beautifully, she also chirps! She does very well with other kitties and with children. In her previous home, she even had a couple of doggie friends. So Katniss should be the perfect addition to any loving home--as long as it's going to be a FOREVER; home. Her adoption fee is $75.00 in cash, and a good vet reference is required. Update: Katniss found her forever home on Oct. 7, 2013.
