Katie's Story

Katie has lived a hard life, but thanks to her cat-loving rescuer, she is on the road to living a normal life – if only she could get to a forever home! She lived in a feral colony, in the woods, with the threat of coyotes for over 3 years. During those years of caring for her she became pregnant and was taken to CLAWS where she had her babies and was then spayed. CLAWS found her babies homes however it was felt Katie was not tame enough to foster at the time she returned to her colony. I continued to care for her and the others all these years. I provided food and water daily, any medical care, and had shelters made for her and the others. There were 26 cats when I found them all and now, thanks to CLAWS, there are only 2 left Katie and Maggie.

About 3 months ago I noticed Katie had a UTI and she needed to go to the vet. I always knew I was going to get her out of there, but I knew when I got her to take to the vet she would not be going back out, she was going home with me. It was time to get her ready for forever home.

Kaite is playful independent, very smart, and curious. She loves sitting in the window seal, watching birds, and other animals from the window. Katie loves TV, likes to play with her toys, but most of all likes to play with the sheets when I am putting them on or making up the bed. Katie was around other cats, and I have dogs so she is used to dogs barking, but she would do best in a home without other pets at this time. Katie loves for you to pet and talk to her; however, she does still get scared when picked up and is easily startled. Katie has started jumping up in the chair and in the bed to snuggle, she still needs time to adjust but is doing well. Katie needs more space as she has been in my bedroom and bathroom for over 3 months.

The sooner she can get to her forever home the better. It is going to take some time for her to adjust to all the changes and new people when adopted, so she needs someone willing to work with her and have patience.

Katie would not do well around active and rambunctious children.

Eats normal cat food.

She is litter box trained.

Domestic short hair, green eyes

Katie is approximately 4 years old.
