Karl MCACC (FIV+)'s Story
Meet Karl Mcacc
This sweet boy was adopted from Mcacc and was returned 2 days later. He is Fiv+ and they knew that when they adopted him. The shelter vet discussed Fiv with them and what it was. When they returned him they said they went home and researched Fiv more and didn’t want to keep him 😢 So, we pulled him to give him a chance at getting a forever home like he deserves.
Fiv isn’t a death sentence. He can live a long healthy life He doesn’t even need medication. FIV is a viral infection that affects a cat’s immune system. Over time, it can make some cats more vulnerable to secondary infections like dental disease, skin infections, or respiratory illness. But FIV itself is not a death sentence, and many cats never develop serious complications.
Non aggressive fiv cats can even live with other cats. They infect other cats through deep bite wounds. Humans cannot get it and your dog cannot get it.
Karl is the sweetest boy. He loves to be pet and loves attention. He doesn’t even mind being held. Karl has not been around dogs so we don’t know how he will do. Since he’s fiv+ he probably should be the only kitty since we are not sure how he does with other kitties. He’s good with older gentle kids.
