Karen's Story

Meet Karen (yes, that Karen - but the lovable kind)

Karen is a 7-year-old gal who has been with us for nearly a full year, and she is very ready to stop paying rent in foster care and start ruling her own forever home!

She came to us living outdoors, understandably fractious and undersocialized. After some time (and some detective work), we realized she was dealing with chronic ear infections that just wouldn't quit. Eventually, Karen was diagnosed with feline ceruminous cystomatosis - which in non-vet terms means her ear canals have recurring cystic growths leading to constant inflammation and infection. Not exactly a fun time.

We tried medication trials for any months. Her right ear responded well, but the left ear stubbornly refused to cooperate (classic Karen). Ultimately, she underwent TECA-BO surgery on her left ear - this is a procedure where the diseased ear canal is fully removed to permanently eliminate pain and infection. The good news? She's healing well, and the problem ear is officially behind her. She does not have hearing in her left ear, but that doesn't slow her down one bit. Karen will require daily ear drops in her right ear but she's so used to it, they're a breeze to administer.

Now, about her personality😼:
Karen is sassy, confident, and does not enjoy cuddling - which, honestly, after everything she's been through, that's fair. That said, she is also funny, playful, and full of personality. She enjoys killing any toys that resemble birds, has her own sense of twisted humor, and if she realllly likes you, she may even choose to sit next to you while you watch bad reality TV (this is a VERY high honour).

She is friendly with the people she trusts, enjoys companionship on her own terms, and has zero tolerance for nonsense. She will absolutely stand up for herself if needed.

She could live with cat-savvy dogs and would likely be okay with laid-back cats, but she's not looking to manage anyone else's drama. She is not suitable for kids (she doesn't like them, frankly waaayyyy to much chaos). Karen will do best as an indoor-only cat where she be safe from the dangers of the outside world.

If you're looking for:
-A cat with boundaries
-A tenacious survivor
-A low-maintenance roommate who doesn't need to be on you all the time to love you

...Karen might just be your gal!

She has waited a long time for someone to see past the 'tude and appreciate the legend underneath. Are you ready to give this spicy queen the forever home she deserves? 💜

Please follow these steps if interested in adoption!

1.
