Kacey's Story
Kacey came dangerously close to not making it... but thanks to lifesaving efforts, he's now making biscuits instead. Last month, we received an urgent call about Kacey. At just 5 years old, this handsome tabby was at Veterinary Specialty Hospital Roseville with a urinary blockageŚa painful, life-threatening emergency that could not wait. But Kacey's family didn't have the financial resources to cover the treatment he desperately needed. His only remaining option was euthanasia. We said no. Because of supporters like you, we had the resources to say yes. Animal Care Supervisor Brandie, along with FieldHaven staff Makenna and Dr. Jen, immediately began putting a plan together to get Kacey the care he needed. After his hospital stay, one of our board members opened her home to foster him. Those first 24 hours were delicate. Then Kacey started fighting. And we started seeing the sweet, affectionate, full-of-personality boy underneath the medical crisis. He was going to make it. Today, Kacey is thriving in foster careŚand he is very much ready to tell you that he has opinions about this whole second-chance business. If you've ever wanted a miniature mountain lion with the heart of a total sweetheart, Kacey is your guy. He's got the striking good looks of a wild cat, but he's all about love, companionship and being involved in whatever his humans are doing. He'll hop into your lap for pets, perch on the back of your chair to supervise your work, follow you around the house and happily offer his commentary on whatever you're up to. He is quite the conversationalist! And yes, he makes biscuits. Lots of biscuits. Kacey will need to remain on a special diet indefinitely. Fortunately, he LOVES food, so he considers this a pretty excellent arrangement. He also loves toys, has impeccable litter box manners and has previously lived happily with other cats. He has met his foster mom's Doberman, too, and was more curious than concerned, so he may do well with a cat-savvy dog. This is what a second chance looks like. A cat who could have lost his life because his family couldn't afford an emergency procedure is now safe, loved, making biscuits and waiting for the family who will love him for the rest of his life. And this is why your support matters. You didn't just help save Kacey. You helped give him a future. Now we're looking for the person who will give him the final piece of his happily-ever-after: a loving home. Kacey is ready. And he has biscuits to make.click here
