Jute **Heart condition

Jute was born around 2017. This cutie's original owner was experiencing health issues, so a friend offered to take him; however, the cats in the home were not accepting of Jute. So now Jute has found his way to our rescue and we are hoping we can find him a home to call his own. <br/><br/>Upon Jute's arrival, we learned he had a Grade III to IV heart murmur. Upon consulting our vet, it was decided Jute needed to see a cardiologist. The cardiologist diagnosed Jute with hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy. This is a condition that causes the walls of Jute's heart to thicken, decreasing the heart's efficiency. According to the cardiologist, Jute's heart rate is well controlled. He is prescribed a daily medication which he readily eats in his favorite treat and requires biannual echocardiograms to monitor his heart function which cost approximately $800 per visit. Jute has seen the cardiologist two times and his next appointment is in January 2024.<br/><br/>Although Jute has a heart condition, he is active, affectionate, sweet, and playful.
