Junipurr-Severe Cerebellar Hypoplasia 's Story

Purrlease read Junipurr's bio carefully and email us a completed adoption application if you are interested in adopting her!

Junipurr is a purrecious and beautiful seal point kitty that was initially found outdoors by Kool Kat rescue at around 5 weeks old. She went into foster with a different rescue before joining our organization in September of 2021. She was born with severe Cerebellar Hypoplasia & is unable to walk. Cerebellar Hypoplasia is a neurological condition in which the cerebellum is smaller than usual or not completely developed. This typically occurs when a pregnant cat becomes infected with feline panleukopenia virus and passes the infection to her unborn kittens.
Her previous foster did a nice job of caring for her. Why is she with us? Well the other rescue was not having success with her placement & learned about MH & our mission to help animals with Special Needs. They felt that our organization would be a better fit for her needs. We agreed to transfer her into our program so that she will continue to get the quality care she needs, along with helping her search for the purrfect home. While in our MH program she has grown into such a loving, vibrant, sweet cat. She has interacted with Cinder who was as usual been ameowzingly gentle, so excited & loving. Cinder had not met a cat with CH yet, so the jerky body movements took a few minutes to get used to. Is she playing with me? Is she smacking me? What is going on? Well Cinder took it all in stride & Junipurr took to her immediately. Who here is surPURRised? Not us! We are always so grateful for the powerful love that Cinder provides for our loving rescues. Junipurr is a purrecious love muffin, with a purr motor that is always going! She has a great appetite and is excellent at using our customized litter box with pee pads. She is a cooPURRative nugget with bath time & afterwards she gets to snuggle up with her heating pad & snuggle blankets!
We also got her fitted for a cart, and are still working on working out the kinks. She is as spunky as our boy HarPURR & has such a strong sense of purrseverance that once we figure it out she will enjoy it. As with any cat, we are very careful about the use of carts & if she shows this is not for her, then we won’t use it.

Enrichment and friendship building time is implemented every day in their foster home and we aim to end each "session" on a positive note. They are an exceptionally sweet and loving pair that would make a wonderful addition to your loving home.

Mojo's Hope always wants to ensure that our rescues choose the most wonderful home possible. To help our adopters match up with the PURRfect pet, we are asking something unique for our adoption fee.

First, we ask you to please fill out our adoption application. Our adoption fee for cats is generally $100.00. Instead of paying this adoption fee, we are asking our adopters to use that money towards preparing for the arrival of their newest addition.

Here is a list of suggested supplies to get your home ready. •Food/Water dishes • Uncovered Litter Box/Litter
• Scratching Posts/Cat Trees
• Feliway (cat pheromone that assists with stress and behaviors)
• Cat Beds/Hidey Spot/Cube/Kennel (foster home will provide at least one piece of bedding or a bed from the foster home to assist with the transition, having their own smell alleviates stress)
• Cat Trees/Perches
• Music (Through a Cat’s Ear is highly recommended, www.icalmpet.com
• Enrichment Toys
• Cat DVDs
• Collar/harness/ID tag
• Carrier

Mojo's Hope provides a care package for each of our rescues when they go to their adoptive home. This care package includes food, bedding, toys, enrichment activities, treats, and a transition packet. The transition packet provides the adopter with a look into the daily life of our rescue and helps the cat and the family support each other during this process.

Mojo's Hope has a very clear and strong position when it comes to cats keeping their claws. We are adamantly opposed to declawing. It is barbaric, cruel, and has proven to cause long-term negative effects on the cat’s body and emotional well-being. Both our adoption application and agreements have an additional clause that the adoptive family signs, that states very clearly that they agree to reach out to MH if behavior concerns arise and that they are never to declaw the cat.

Please do not submit your application if you have any intention of declawing.

Here is the link to our Adoption Application:

https://www.mojoshope.org/_files/ugd/d27466_fe8822bef8994d8a9c9eaf8a7c5c5a4b.pdf

Links for support/information about cats with Cerebellar Hypoplasia:

https://www.kittycatchronicles.com/cerebellar-hypoplasia/
https://www.catster.com/lifestyle/cat-health-care-tips-cerebellar-hypoplasia https://www.thesprucepets.com/feline-cerebellar-hypoplasia-4171881

Here is a worldwide support group: http://www.chkittyclub.com/.
