Junior's Story
Hi! My name is Junior, and here’s a little more about me:

My Journey
I was rescued from a hoarding situation in Huntington Beach. While big changes can take me a little time to adjust to, I’ve shown that once I feel safe, I truly blossom.

My Social Life
Other cats: I may be able to live with other cats with slow, thoughtful introductions in a calm environment.
Dogs: I haven’t met dogs yet, so any introductions would need to be gradual and respectful.
Kids: I’d do best with gentle, cat-savvy humans who understand that I may need a little time to warm up.
My social circle, summed up:
I’m a gentle soul who values trust and consistency. Once settled, I enjoy companionship and close bonds with my people.

My Personality
Sweet, affectionate, and sensitive. I may be a bit reserved at first, but patience is rewarded — once I’m comfortable, I show my loving side and enjoy being close to my humans.

I Enjoy...
Quiet companionship
Gentle pets and affection
Feeling safe and settled in my environment
Building trust at my own pace

I’m Not a Fan Of...
Being rushed or overwhelmed. My warm coloring and expressive pattern give me a classic, handsome look — the kind that catches your eye and makes you stop for a second look.

My Perfect Home
My ideal home would be indoors, with loving humans and either calm feline companions or as a solo kitty. Regular vet care and lots of love will help me stay happy and healthy.
I’d thrive in a calm, loving home with adopters who understand that trust takes time.

My Special Needs
I am FIV-positive (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus), which means my immune system needs a little extra care. Right now, I’m healthy and feeling great, and many FIV-positive cats live long, happy lives just like any other cat.
What I need is pretty simple: I should live indoors, have regular vet checkups, and be monitored if I ever seem under the weather. Because FIV is only spread through deep bite wounds, I can safely live with other friendly, non-aggressive cats when introductions are done thoughtfully.

A little more on FIV +:
Smittens does not routinely test for FIV, but this cat was tested elsewhere. FIV is a resident virus, which can, over the course of many years, result in compromised immunity — that is, greater susceptibility to environmental pathogens. Therefore, it is important that FIV+ cats be kept indoors and away from pathogens, especially as they reach middle age and beyond. Routine dental care is also important. With these precautions, and prompt treatment of any illnesses which might occur in any cat (e.g., abscesses, upper respiratory infections, gum disease, etc.), most FIV+ cats will live normal lifespans.
The virus is only transmissible between cats, and only through deep bite wounds — so, of course, keep the FIV+ cat away from any cats that might want to instigate a fight with him. However, an FIV+ cat can live with FIV- cats without issues, so long as both cats are non-aggressive, and introductions are done slowly.
You can read more about FIV here: https://www.humaneworld.org/en/all-animals/fiv-positive-cats
