JUMBO JACK's Story
This is Jumbo Jack (7 yrs). He is a diabetic that was NOT doing well at the shelter. He was in a feral box and it was nearly impossible to give him meds. So we decided to take on a new challenge. Jack has been with us for 2 weeks and we have made WAY more progress than we ever thought he would in a short amount of time. He still hisses and stays hidden in one particular spot in the room when we walk in. But with a slow calm approach, we have learned that the quickest way to his heart is with a brush. Today, I managed to push him a bit out of his comfort zone by turning the cat tree around to face the door so that he could see us when we walked in the room. While he is super uncomfortable with the slight adjustment, he did warm up quickly with some calm patience and showed us a bit more of his sweet loving side by flopping over and showing his belly for pets. While we are still a ways away from him being a more confident and grounded boy, we are so incredibly proud of him for opening up and trusting us as much as he has so far.
