Joya *CH*'s Story

Joya and her siblings Jade, Jax and Jules, were born with cerebellar hypoplasia, a congenital condition of underdeveloped cerebellum due to a viral infection their momma had while pregnant. CH cats may have head tremors, uncoordinated gait and wobbly motor skills. That’s why the condition is also called Wobbly Cat Syndrome. With a few simple adjustments made in the home to safeguard these kitties from falls, CH cats live normal, fulfilling lives enriching their people and reminding the world that compassion and love remove all obstacles.

Joya is a loving, year old girl with classic striped tabby markings and a cute beauty spot on her boop nose. She is able to walk, sometimes run or pounce, and go up the stairs a few steps. She is a good eater and eats/drinks standing upright, but lies down to use the litter box. Her favourite activity is chilling with her people, snuggling close and giving kisses. Joya enjoys tussling and playing with her brothers and sister, but she reserves her best affections for the people who love her. She follows her humans around to see what they are doing during the day, and cuddles up in bed to sleep at night. Joya is happiest when her people are within touching distance.

These special kitties are loving fur angels who do not know they are different, and they face life with curiosity and spunk. Joya is a joy, that is a fact. She would love to have a family open their heart and home to include her and maybe one of her siblings too, or have a sweet kitty waiting to show her how to be the best cat possible. With care and love, Joya is willing to bet she can be the inspiration you are looking for, and your world is a better place with her in it.

Would you like to make Joya a part of your family? Please complete our online application found at: avacats.org/adopt/adoption-form.

Our adoption fees cover vetting and include spay/neuter, vaccines (initial FVRCP and rabies), flea treatment, two dewormings and microchipping.

Adoption fees are $250 for each adult cat 1 year or older. Please note that fees may apply for additional required vaccinations (at $75 per booster) due prior to adoption. Total adoption fees will be confirmed by the AVA Adoption Coordinator.
