Joshua 's Story

Joshua
💔 I Hid Where the World Couldn’t See Me 💔

I’m Joshua… the boy who was left in the middle of Love Park during rush hour, when the whole world felt too loud and too fast for a cat who didn’t understand why he suddenly had no one. I remember the blur of footsteps, the echo of voices, the cold air rushing around me. I kept turning my head, waiting for someone familiar to come back. No one did.

The cars were too close. The people were too many. My heart was pounding so hard I could hear it over the city noise. I ran until I found a narrow space behind a staircase—just big enough for me to wedge myself into, just hidden enough that the world couldn’t swallow me whole. I stayed there, pressed against the concrete, trying to make myself small, trying to understand how I went from having a home to being alone in the busiest place I’d ever seen.

But even after everything, I didn’t lose the part of me that wants to trust. When the kind human found me, I didn’t hiss or hide my face. I looked right at them. Something in me still hoped someone would be gentle. And they were.

I leaned into their hand. I let them scoop me up. I didn’t know if I deserved kindness, but I wanted it so badly. They told me I was safe now, and I believed them.

I’m the sweetest boy—soft, grateful, already trusting again even after being left behind. I don’t hold grudges. I just want someone who won’t disappear this time. Someone who sees me not as a burden in a busy park, but as a companion who’s been waiting for a place to belong.

I didn’t choose to hide from the world.
I just needed someone to show me I was worth stepping back into it.
