Jolene's Story

Jolene
Est DOB 2023
Adoption fee $225

Jolene is a sweet, affectionate, beautiful Abyssinian mix who has discovered that life is much better with laps, cozy beds, good food, and plenty of attention.

She is estimated to be 2–3 years old. Her journey to indoor life began at a semi-rural horse boarding facility surrounded by coyote habitat and a busy road. She arrived hungry but remarkably trusting of people. The resident cats weren’t welcoming, and with few safe options, her future was uncertain.

Jolene slept wherever she could find a cozy spot, often in horse blankets, and appeared mostly in the evenings. Once cat-loving horse owners discovered her, she received regular meals and quickly began to thrive. It soon became clear that she wasn’t just looking for food—she was looking for people.

One boarder could carry Jolene while leading her horse, and Jolene was perfectly content. She loved being held, climbed happily into laps, and soaked up attention. Knowing she deserved a safer, more comfortable life, several boarders worked together to get her into foster care and on the path to adoption.

Jolene made the transition easy. She happily jumped into the car, settled onto her foster’s lap, and slept through the ride home. From the start, she showed how much she enjoys indoor comfort and companionship.

A few of Jolene’s favorite things

Laps and affection: She is a genuine lap cat who loves pets and cuddles.
Wet food: This girl knows what she likes!
Playtime: She enjoys mousy toys, laser pointers, and other toys.
Catnip: Another favorite!
Morning zoomies: She may race around the house to start her day.
Cozy indoor living: After her outdoor adventure, she has no interest in going back outside. Been there, done that!

Jolene is affectionate, trusting, playful, and wonderfully people-oriented. After fending for herself in an unsafe environment, she is ready for the life she deserves: a safe home, a warm lap, and someone to love her right back.

If you’re looking for a sweet companion who will happily curl up beside you and make herself at home, Jolene may be your girl.

The first step in our adoption process is the application which can be found on our website lapcats.org.

All of our cats have tested negative for FELV and are vaccinated. If they have been rescued as kittens under 4 months, they will not have a rabies vaccine. They have not only been spayed or neutered but have also been treated for worms, fleas, and have been micro chipped.

We will register their microchip for you, provide you with a free exam visit to a participating Sacramento veterinarian, and a goodie bag! We do not do out of state adoptions for the safety of our cats.
