Jojen's Story

Looking for a unicorn adopter for this sweet boy.

Why unicorn?

In this time of crazy, never-ending kitten seasons, when there are kittens of every shape, size and color coming out of the woodwork meowing for homes, we present to you a senior boy who has been waiting for a lifetime home for a very long time. Some may think, why bother? Put him outside, there are too many. Yes, its true there are too many cats - and many cats more desirable than this Jojen. But inside, Jojen is a cat like any other. He too wants to love and be loved. He too wants to be cared for like a baby. He too wants creature comforts that mean so so much to him, that people can easily provide - a soft warm bed, a kind pet, a kind voice, a nice window to look out - this is the world and more to him. What we want to save is that cat inside him, his soul. Isn't that what its about for all cats? Jojen included? We say Yes!

Jojen is a small brown (grey) tiger strip boy. He's a senior of approximately 11-12 years. (DOB 11.29.13) He's in good shape per bloodwork and body condition.

Jojen teaches us about resiliency, compassion, aging with grace and loving kindness.

He's been extremely resilient throughout his life.
A stray through no fault of his own. He was someone's pet once and neutered as a kitten. He had a taste of what it meant to be loved and cared for. Later abandoned, he survived on the streets being fed along with other cats in the neighborhood. He survived.

As many cats living outdoors in the sub-tropical Florida environment, he was subject to picking up intestinal parasites. He suffered a rectal prolapse. This is when his foster stepped up for him. Left untreated, it likely would have led to death due to bleeding. He underwent repair, was treated for the parasites and infection and lived on. He survived.

Jojen is totally healed and cleared of this condition for some time now. He is a healthy and happy senior!

As a senior and as a 'generic' tabby, Jojen has been overlooked when adopters have been in favor of younger cats and kittens, more colorful felines and ones who maybe didn't need to survive the way he did.

Through all this, Jojen has shown resiliency. He's willing to trust. Trust is key. He needs a person who is willing to give him the time and space to trust as he is naturally a bit slow to trust and shy. Give him a week, maybe two and then he's a really cute sweet boy.

Jojen tested negative for the feline leukemia virus and feline immunodeficiency virus. He is sweet with other cats and can be mixed with your felines, if you have any. He can also be with you, his person, as an only, being the sole recipient of your kindness and compassion.

He's neutered, microchipped, current on rabies and FVRCP vaccines, had deworming protocol and as mentioned Jojen has a fecal pcr and was treated for intestinal infection. He's had normal senior blood panel and is on a monthly flea preventative revolution plus.
We can do a senior blood panel prior to adoption and we can also offer to cover lifetime vetting if his adopter is local. (so we can take him to our vet).

Adoption process includes adoption interest form or application followed by meet and greet.
