Johnny's Story

I’m Johnny, a cruelty rescue and long-term shelter resident who’s spent over a year dreaming of having a real home.
When I first arrived just before Thanksgiving 2024, I was nervous and overwhelmed. The world had taught me to stay alert, to move carefully, and to keep my heart tucked away. But little by little, kindness found its way in. And somehow, with time, I began to feel safe.

Even now, I’m still shy and a little skittish, but I’m also very sweet once I know you. While I'm not a fan of being held, I like to sit nearby, keeping you company while you read, rest, or move through the quiet rhythms of your day. And when I feel truly comfortable, I’ll start to talk to you in soft little meows; it's my way of saying, I’m here and I like being with you.

Like my spirit, my eye carries a small scar, but it doesn’t dim how I see the world. I still notice warm patches of sunlight on the floor, the sound of a familiar voice coming back into the room, and the simple joy of knowing someone has returned just for me. I don’t dwell on the past. I look forward to the small, beautiful moments that make life special.

With my sensitive, tender heart, I dream of a calm space where I can finally rest, where trust is built slowly, and where friendship blooms with time. Most of all, I hope to become a cherished member of a loving family. I’d be delighted to be the apple of your eye, but I’d also be happy sharing my days with a feline friend. I can be dog-tested once the SPCA receives a submitted application.
