JJ's Story

Meet JJ, the sweetest, most resilient boy you'll ever meet! This lovable guy came to us in rough shape, with injuries likely from a car accident and terrible skin irritation from diarrhea. He is also sporting a funky-looking eyelid, but it doesn't bother him at all. But despite it all, JJ greeted us with nothing but love and kindness. His gentle spirit won our hearts instantly.

JJ went through surgery to amputate his broken tail, was neutered, and has been recovering from his remaining injuries in the loving care of his foster home. Now, he is ready for his forever home!

JJ has some special needs. He has issues with his bladder and bowels, so he wears diapers during the day and spends his evenings in a small room that can be easily cleaned up. He is currently on medication to relax his bladder, as well as a supplement to keep his urinary tract healthy. His full daily treatment is detailed below.

But don't let that turn you away; he's an incredibly affectionate, playful soul who loves to be around people and other cats. JJ isn't picky with food (he loves to eat!) and has an adorable, easy-going attitude that makes him the best big brother. He lovingly teaches his foster siblings manners, cleaning and snuggling them with a soft, patient touch. JJ is most frequently found cuddling on the couch with his foster mom and the dogs and cats. Having said that, he would be fine as an only cat.

JJ's ideal adopter will be someone with experience expressing cats. If you're searching for a cat with a heart as big as his personality, JJ is ready to fill your life with love, laughter, and the warmth of a true friend. Are you the special home this incredible cat has been waiting for?

p.s. We will send diapers, medications, and anything else he needs with him so that his adopters will have everything they need to ensure this guy continues to stay happy and healthy.

JJ's Daily Treatment:
In the morning, JJ receives 5ml of Prozasin and 1ml of urinary supplement. Both are taken orally, and he does well taking them. His bladder is manually expressed and a clean diaper is put on him (or you can let him run around naked...he does leak though, and some poo will likely drop out). JJ is usually expressed once or twice again throughout the day, cleaned up, and given a new diaper. Before bed, his bladder is expressed again, and he receives another dose of Prozasin. He is then kenneled for the night with a soft bed covered in puppy pads. He doesn't need a litter box! Occasionally, he gets agitated about getting his bladder expressed. When this happens, he is given a 100ml pill of gabapentin. An hour later, he is relaxed enough that his bladder can be easily and fully expressed. He does have a history of occasionally getting crystals, which the medicine helps with. His foster parent uses urine strips to test his ph a couple times a week to make sure it is staying below range for crystals to form. He does not currently get his bowels expressed, though he would benefit from this, so we are working on him getting used to it.

Street Cats Club is a volunteer-run, licensed rescue in Emporia, KS. Our kittens and cats are spayed/neutered, microchipped, dewormed, treated with flea/tick preventative, and have received age-appropriate vaccinations.
