Jessie's Story

Meet Jessie The Queen of Progress and Playtime

Hi there! Im Jessie a stunning white, grey, and black short haired beauty with a big personality and an even bigger heart. I first came to the Animal Rescue Foundation (ARF) a little unsure of people and my surroundings. But since moving into a temporary foster with one of ARFs amazing volunteers, Ive truly blossomed into a confident, curious girl who loves affection, playtime, and cozy companionship.

Before I went to my foster home, I was also observed by a feline behavior specialist who helped identify what I needed to feel happy and secure. Thats where my special play and hunting sessions began! These sessions help me release energy, calm my nerves, and build trust. At first, I needed a full hour of play a day, but now Im content with about one 20-minute play sessionjust enough time to chase my favorite bird-like string toys or pounce on moving objects like a little huntress.

When Im not playing, youll often find me perched by the window, watching the birds and soaking in all the sights of nature. Im a polite girl who greets new people by rubbing against their legs, and if I really trust you, Ill curl up beside you or allow gentle pets on my head and back. When Ive had enough, Ill give you a soft tap with my pawno claws, just my way of saying, thanks, Im all set for now.

Im also very particular about my litter boxI like it clean and well maintained (a proper queen has standards, after all!). I would thrive best as the only cat in the home, where I can be the center of attention, though I might do fine with older, respectful kids who can understand and honor my boundaries.

Along with the love and patience of my foster family and the guidance from the behavior specialist, Ive made tremendous progress. Im looking for a forever home that will continue to support my play-based routine, be patient as I adjust, and celebrate the loving, loyal cat I am becoming. It will take time and understandingbut just ask my foster familyits been so rewarding to watch me bloom.

Could your home be the next chapter in my royal story?

With confidence and charm,
Jessie

Some very important things you should know when applying:

Adoption fees for young adult and adult cats are $250 ($265 if microchipped).

What our adoption fees include:

Adult cats have received a wellness exam, fecal exams to test for intestinal parasites, treated for any known/existing conditions to bring them back to health, SNAP tested for FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus), FeLV (Feline Leukemia Virus), and Heartworm. They have also received flea/tick preventative, have been spayed/neutered and are up to date on both their distemper and rabies vaccinations.

For all applicants:
Our volunteers do our very best to match an animals needs with that of the familys needs and desires. In an effort to be transparent, please note that we just dont know how our individual animals, many who have been through prior stress or trauma before arriving at our shelter, will react around young children who are still learning what it means to respect an animals boundaries. We are happy to have a beneficial discussion about safety between children and pets. Applicants and their family members arriving for meet and greets will be asked to sign a liability waiver upon arrival and prior to meeting our animals. Please also expect to have at least 2 visits as part of the adoption process at our shelter- one for the initial meet and greet, and one for the adoption appointment if a match is made. Its important to us that we are properly matching animals to adopters, preparing our adopters for their special adoption day, and for a lifetime of happy pet ownership with your adopted pet.

Please double check your application for completeness and accuracy prior to submitting it to us. Please be as thorough as possible when answering application questions as the more you elaborate, the more information we have to consider, the more likely we are to have a full picture of the care, support, and love our cats/kittens will receive for their adopted lifetime and your particular application will be at the top of our mind when placing cats/kittens in their chosen forever homes. You can complete an application at ARFCT.org and submit it to our email at arfct.adoptions@gmail.com for consideration. Thank you!
