Jess's Story

Meet Jess — A Little Chirp, a Quiet Purr, and a Whole Lot of Love!

Jess may be shy when you first meet her, but give this sweet girl a little time and patience, and you’ll soon discover what a special companion she is. This lovely girl has the sweetest way of asking for attention, with tiny little chirp-meows that are sure to steal your heart. Once the pets start? You’ll be rewarded with the softest, sweetest purr. And maybe some of her soft coat on your clothes.

At around 2 years old, Jess is ready for a fresh start and a loving home where she can finally feel safe and secure. Sadly, she was abandoned in an apartment and we don’t know how long she was left on her own. Despite her difficult start, Jess has so much love to give to someone willing to let her blossom at her own pace.

Jess can be a little cautious at first, and loud noises can startle her, so she would likely thrive in a quieter home where she can settle in without too much commotion. Jess has lived with another cat in the past, although we aren’t yet sure how she feels about feline friends. For now, we think she’d do best with a family willing to be thoughtful about any introductions and give her the time she needs to adjust.

This gentle girl deserves a home where she’ll never have to wonder when love is coming her way. If you have a peaceful space, a little patience and lots of affection to share, Jess might just be the quiet, purring companion you’ve been waiting for.

Jess has been:
Spayed
Microchipped
Vaccinated
Dewormed
Flea treated
SNAP tested (negative)

Jess's adoption fee is $225 plus tax.

If you think Jess could be the perfect addition to your family, the next step is to complete an adoption application using the link below.

Application: https://www.newwestcity.ca/database/files/library/NWAS_Cat_Adoption_Application_2026.pdf

New Westminster Animal Shelter's Adoption Policy
IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN AN ANIMAL, please submit an application form. This is the FIRST step in the adoption process. Please do NOT email us just to express interest. https://www.newwestcity.ca/services/animal-services/animal-shelter Our animals have unique personalities and needs. Our goal is to find the most suitable home for them and the most suitable pet for you. We make every effort to place animals in “forever” homes so they don’t find themselves back in a shelter. They’ve already lost their home once, and we don’t want them to go through that again. All applications are reviewed by two shelter staff members. We also conduct a phone interview, at which time we will address any questions or concerns you may have. Typically, we are able to inform applicants within 72 hours. If your application has been approved, we will then schedule a time for you to come pick up your new family member!
