Jennie's Story

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

We brought Jennie home in Oct 2023 to provide foster care and comfort in what we thought was her final stage of life. She was a nine-year-old feline diagnosed with diabetes, and the vet suspected cancer after significant weight loss and a suspicious ultrasound of her intestines. Steroids and other treatments for cancer would worsen her diabetes, so hospice care was thought to be the most compassionate option. She was expected to decline further but did not appear to be suffering from any pain. Apparently, no one gave Jennie the diagnosis memo, and after a few months in a stable foster home she has gained weight, her coat is thick and soft, and she has a big appetite! She makes us laugh when she runs and sings rah! rah! rah! when her food bowl is served as breakfast and dinner are her favorite parts of the day. She’s entertaining company when she squishes her body into a light bulb box, dances in a circle at treat time, or curls up on your yoga mat whenever anyone attempts to exercise. She especially likes to rub noses with her people and loves to be held and walked around to look outside. Jennie is diabetic and requires insulin twice per day in 12-hour increments. Jennie is gentle, curious and enjoys human company. She would do well in a quiet home where she is queen of the castle. Unfortunately, our senior house cat has not adjusted well to Jennie and they must be kept separated from each other. Are you ready to take her home? I’m happy to share more information about Jennie; email me at almosthomefosterpet@gmail.com.

12/14/25 8:19 AM
