Jean Grey (Jeannie)'s Story

Jeannie came to our rescue from another rescue that saved her from a breeder. Jeannie was repeatedly bred to make money however, none of her litters survived. The breeder was abusive to her and used her only for money making. Sadly her living conditions were deplorable and none of her litters survived. Jeannie was turned over to a Maine coon rescue because she wasn't making the breeder any money. After several days with the Maine coin rescue, they determined that her personality was not in line with what they considered adoptable. Jeannie came to us because we have done extensive work with cats that are not what one would consider friendly. She's a little spicy but she is really a sweet cat. Jeannie does get overstimulated and she will bite. The bites are not breaking the skin but are merely an expression of her excitement. Jeanne is very playful but does not get along with other cats. She would have to be an only cat in the home. Jeannie also has very specific dietary requirements, she is allergic to standard pet food and requires prescription food. Jeannie would do well in a home with adults, and grown children; I don't feel her personality is suitable for young children. Jeannie does not like to be picked up but she loves attention and will seek you out for chin scratches. Because she was used for breeding, she has a pretty significant dislike for being held. She is a purebred Russian Maine coon and at 12 pounds currently, she will continue to grow for the next three years. Another wonderful feature for this beautiful girl is that she is a polydactyly, she has seven toes on each foot.
