Jasmine's Story

Jasmine is a sweetie! This little thing loves everybody–people, dogs, and especially Big Girl cats. “Jammie” is a mama’s girl. She is playful and purrs her head off when you pet her and rub her back. She adores her human foster mama and adopts every older female kitty as her mama as well, scootching up against them and being their little shadow. She is open to friendly dogs and plays like a champ. When you meet her you will want to kiss her perfect little face, and if she’s not too busy playing with her buddies she will snuggle. She would love to be adopted with her sister or her cousin, but would be a perfect companion to a friendly adult female cat. She just wants all the love she can get. We are listing Jammie as special needs because of a viral upper respiratory condition that seems to be chronic. She can go days or weeks without symptoms, but then she sneezes blood. We are about to try another medication, but the most effective treatment so far is nose drops and humidifier. She would be fine in a "kid friendly" home where the people are not particular about carpet and upholstery. Bloody sneezes wipe right off tile and vinyl plank, but carpet and upholstery are another story. Jammie is spayed and vaccinated for rabies. Important note: Jasmine would be sad as an only cat. As much as she loves her mom, she needs another animal for play and companionship and would be unhappy as an only pet.

Paws for Peace's Adoption Policy
The adoption process involves an application and at least one meeting. We ask everyone interested in adopting one of our cats to complete an application. We will review your application, and if it is approved, you will have an opportunity to meet the cat and interact with him or her. Following this meeting, we like to take a day or two for everybody to sleep on the decision before we go forward with the adoption. Approval of the application does not guarantee that the adoption will go forward. It is only one part of the process. All of our cats live in private foster homes. They have their own condo at the Pet Valu in Piscataway, 1354 Centennial Ave, but we rotate them there, so if you are interested in a particular cat please contact us before you make the trip. The adoption fee for a spayed or neutered cat is $150. The fee for an unaltered kitten is $90, with a $25 rebate when you spay or neuter your kitten. All cats and kittens are microchipped and vaccinated against rabies and distemper. Once the cats are adopted, we like to visit them in their new homes to make sure they are settling in nicely and that the new situation is a good fit for everyone involved. If for any reason the adoption doesn’t work, we only ask that the cat comes back to us. These cats are our babies and we are committed to placing them in homes best suited to their personalities and those of the families who adopt them.
