James's Story

Meet James, a sweet and handsome teenage kitten born June of 2012, making him 7 months old at the time of this posting. James is a little shy with people at first but he loves dogs and other cats! If you are looking for a companion animal for your own pet, James would be great! With a bit of patience and TLC, he will become your cat as well, though he will likely never greet guests when they come to your house. He will be YOUR cat, and definitely your current cat or dog's best friend. :) His foster mom says that James now lets her hold him and cuddle him and that he is the most affectionate of his brothers.

James was rescued as a stray with his 2 brothers so he socialized more with other animals as a kitten than with humans. This does not make him mean toward humans at all, just a little more timid at first. As is typical with other shy cats, James will be braver in the evening and at night (a cat's prime "hunting" time) and that will be your best time to socialize with him, so if you work mostly during the day, by the time you get home, James will be ready for some attention. (Once he gets used to you and your house, James will feel more comfortable seeking attention and affection during the day also.)

He may take a little work, but shy cats are the best companions because they are definitely YOUR kitties in the end and no one else's! :) They just need to be babied a bit and shown that humans aren't scary.

If you have any questions or would like to meet James, please call foster mom Tiffiny at (314) 546-3907 or e-mail the rescue at contact@stlpetrescue.com. Information about the rescue and adoption process can also be found at stlpetrescue.com along with a full listing of our adoptable pets.

James' adoption fee is $125 which includes his felv/fiv testing, worming, flea and ear mite treatments, age appropriate vaccinations, spay/neuter, rabies vaccination, and a microchip with free registration.

The rescue holds adoption events every Saturday and most Sundays at the Petco in Gravois Bluffs, Fenton in the back of the store, Saturday from 11-4 and Sunday 12-4. We also host adoption events at the Arnold PetSmart and Sunset Hills PetSmart on a varying basis. Please contact us to check whether the pet you are interested in will be at which adoption event. :)

Kittens/cats must be inside only pets and returned to St. Louis Pet Rescue if you need to rehome. We are a non-declaw rescue and any kitten/cat that is not declawed must stay that way.

The adoption process includes an interview, application and adoption contract.
