Jack-A Sad Tail looking for a Happy Ending's Story
This is a very sad story and we hope has a happy ending.

Four years ago, Jack was adopted with his sister, Jill, when both were four months. We received a call from another shelter that stated the family was attempting to surrender him to them. The owner said he had been adopted from the Kinnelon Volunteer Animal Shelter, so the shelter called us, and we stated we would take Jack back. Why was he being surrendered? The family stated he was having an issue with his sister Jill. Supposedly he was not using the litter box and was becoming fresh with his sister. When we asked what their vet suggested, we were told he had not seen a vet since he was adopted four years ago! When asked why, they replied, he never went outside! Then we asked what had changed in the house? We were told nothing. So what had they been doing with Jack? They put him in a camper in their driveway and fed him twice a week! Long story short, when Jack was brought to the shelter, the family showed up with newborn babies. So that was what had changed in the household. So...what we now had was a cat that was so fearful we had to cage him while he settled down. This has taken almost 6 months. We finally got him to our vet where he was the most excellent cat! See the photos! Shots, ears checked, blood drawn, nails clipped all without one issue!

Back to Jack...we are sure he will be a wonderful cat for an adult family that does not pressure him. Let Jack settle in slowly and get back the life he deserves. He is a handsome big boy! And guess what? NOT one pee or poop outside the box. Jack has now moved from a cage in the quarantine room into a cage in the main cat room where he can see all our cats and volunteers. Still not ready to join the other cats, and that may be never. However, we do believe given the right family and home he will be a wonderful single companion.

Sorry for the long tale--but we are heartbroken that this has happened to one of ours who was so sweet when young. Do you think that you are the right family to give this boy a home he truly needs and deserves.

Please call us at 973-283-4120 or contact us through our Petfinder page.

See the photos of Jack in his cage and at the vet. We have kept the vet tech's image private.
