Sweet Iris’ story is one of second chances! She was surrendered to Pet Rescue of Mercer (PRM) over Thanksgiving weekend with plans for her to be euthanized. Thankfully, a veterinarian saw something special in this little girl and believed that what Iris really needed was some long-overdue basic veterinary care—and a whole lot of love.<br/><br/>That faith paid off.<br/><br/>After treatment for several previously untreated parasites, along with a healthy diet and plenty of TLC, Iris is now doing wonderfully. She has no permanent damage from her difficult past and is ready to focus on the good things in life: feeling safe, getting attention, and finding her forever family.<br/><br/>Iris is a tiny girl at just 6 pounds, but don't let her size fool you—she has BIG hair and an even bigger personality! She is friendly and continues to build confidence every day. She doesn't seem to mind sharing her space with other cats, although she does require a special diet.<br/><br/>Iris could happily live with another easygoing cat, but she would probably be perfectly content as your one-and-only, too. Because of her history and gentle nature, a home without small children would likely be the best fit for her.<br/><br/>This little lady has already overcome so much.
