Iris's Story

Iris is approximately 3 years old, and was rescued from a high-kill shelter in NC. It took her a LONG time to decompress and feel safe... over 6 months! She has been in foster care for a year, and is turning into a talkative girl who is learning to play with the foster kittens and cohabitate with good manners.<br/><br/> <br/><br/>Her ideal home would be one where they understand her affections will have to develop on HER terms. Iris will take awhile to feel comfortable. She will express her fear and nervousness by growling and swiping... so she will need someone that is patient and understanding of a cat with big feelings.<br/><br/> <br/><br/>With a little cheese, and a lot of love, Iris will open up and be the chatty opinionated girl that her foster parents see every day.

Grass Roots Rescue's Adoption Policy
First step in the adoption process is to fill out our adoption application found at: https://www.grrde.org/adoption-application It takes us about 24-48 hours to review your application. Approved applications are forwarded to the foster family. They will contact you to answer any questions you might have and set up a meet and greet. If the meet and greet goes well, you can fill out the adoption contract, pay the fee and take your new pup home the same day. Adoption fees range from $100 to $350. If you didn't receive an answer 48 hours after placing an application, please check your junk mail folder.
