India's Story
Hi… my name is India!
I’m a small black cat with a quiet voice, a gentle heart, and (most days) one very special white whisker you can recognize me by. I also usually wear my blue and brown collar so you don’t lose track of me while I’m busy being adorable.

I came to the sanctuary a couple years ago after living outside for a long time. I was a feral mama who raised many litters of kittens out there. My last litter came in with me to a different rescue, and I was a very good mom, so good, in fact, that I even helped care for orphan kittens who didn’t have a mama of their own. Once my babies were big enough, they all found their forever homes. I stayed behind.

At that time… I had absolutely no interest in humans. Not one bit. So I was transferred to furball, where patience lives and nobody rushes a girl like me.

For the first year, touching me was a no thank you. But with time, love, calm voices, and yes food (I will never deny the power of food), something changed. One day I decided that pets were actually… wonderful. Now I’m super sweet, and I almost get excited when I know you’re coming over to pet me. I’ll even meow for affection, it’s a very quiet meow, so you have to listen closely.

In a new home, I will hide at first. New places are scary, and I like to observe before I commit. But I warm up faster than you might expect, especially if you bring snacks. I am a huge fan of lickable treats. A true sucker for them, honestly.

I can still be a little shy sometimes, but if you’re calm and kind, I may decide your lap is a very good place to sit. I recently had a dental and lost quite a few teeth, but don’t worry, it hasn’t slowed down my love of food one bit.

I’m a calm girl and would really enjoy a calm home. I love other cats and would prefer to have feline friends to share naps, snacks, and companionship with.

If you think we might be meant for each other, you can come visit me daily from 1–5pm. Maybe I’ll give you my quiet little meow… and maybe I’ll choose you.

I have excellent litter box habits. My new perfect family NEEDS to understand that it WILL take me a while to adjust at first and I WILL hide as I settle in. Give me time, patience, and use food as a tool to get me out of my shell — I really am a wonderful cat.

I am fully vetted: spayed, microchipped, FIV & FeLV negative, treated for fleas/ticks/and intestinal parasites, and up-to-date on all my vaccinations. I require an indoor-only home and, as with all cats — absolutely no declawing.

If you are interested in adopting India, please message us on Facebook at Furball Farm Cat Sanctuary or email us at FurballFarmCatSanctuary@gmail.com
