Inari Kitsune - Older Kitten Discount's Story

Introducing Inari Kitsune! This girl was trapped from a feral colony along with her 4 other goddess sisters who are also looking for families. Inari was special from the start, though, because she eluded capture days longer than the other girls. Her later trap-date meant she was the only sister who didn’t get her ear tipped at Feral Cat Coalition…her huge pointy ears are why she’s named for the Japanese fox deity.

Inari is gorgeous: shiny, silky fur, slender build and graceful body language. She is the most independent in her litter, which is likely why she was off doing her own thing when her sisters were trapped. She was scared of humans at first but has now fully embraced the indoor pet life.

The way to Inari’s heart is through churu treats and a polite approach. Inari is a very polite girl herself and she appreciates that from others. For example, when her sisters swarm to chomp on treats, Inari sits and gently taps or gestures at the human until they give her a turn.

Inari Kitsune craves attention and affection but is still learning how to ask for it. At times she sits and stares at her human until they notice, rather than hopping up for pets. Sometimes she reaches and pokes gently until they pay her the attention she deserves. It’s extremely sweet but her new family needs to understand that Inari needs them to watch for her signals.

Inari also needs her family to know that she’ll probably be skeptical at first – plan to create a mostly-calm space to fully gain her trust. Preference will go to a family that has another young cat but that is not required since she isn’t extremely focused on other cat-friends.

Inari currently shares a bedroom with a teen foster-human. She’s met older kids and other cats but has never met a dog or tiny human child. If there are non-cat pets or small kids in the home, please have a plan in place to carefully introduce and supervise. She’s healthy and active with polite litter box habits.

For pictures and videos, check out the foster family’s Instagram page: catnerd_house.

Please head to our website to fill out an application prior to sending an inquiry or asking to set up a meeting.

(See application at https://www.nwac-oregon.org/cat-application).

Once your adoption application is approved we will contact you to put you in touch with the foster family to ask any questions, set up an online meeting, or to set up an person meet. If you submit an inquiry instead of an application, this will delay the process and increase the chance someone else will meet YOUR dream cat before you do! If we get an inquiry, we will ask you to fill out an application before we respond to questions.

The $175 adoption fee Includes spay/neuter, microchip, de-worming, current flea treatment, current vaccines for their age, and a vet exam. Unless otherwise noted, they have also had a negative test for FIV and FeLV.

Northwest Animal Companions is an all-volunteer, non-profit foster-home based rescue. 100% of your adoption fee goes to provide for the medical and physical needs of the pets in our care.
