Hughey's Story

Hughey (around 2 years old) is an outgoing guy who gets easily overstimulated. We think the situation is exacerbated by the close quarters in the shelter. Because he does enjoy attention and seeks it out, we think that some of his "spicier" moments will be alleviated by having more space, where he can just walk away when he has had enough. Overall, he is a nice fellow, who would likely prefer to be king of his castle.

We do NOT respond to PetFinder inquires; we only respond to emails sent to adopt@scituateanimalshelter.org regarding adoption inquires.

We never know how quickly a pet will be adopted. Therefore, if you are interested in a pet but want to see them during our shelter open hours prior to filling out an application, we strongly recommend that you email us at adopt@scituateanimalshelter.org before visiting the shelter to ensure they are still there.

Open hours are Wednesdays 1:30-6pm, and Saturdays and Sundays 10am-2pm for you to come view our adoptable pets. You can apply for animal at the shelter during our open hours or online by emailing adopt@scituateanimalshelter.org and asking for an application. Adoption fees allow our non-profit to continue to help pets in need.

Meet and greets with animals are scheduled after applications have been processed and we’ve determined you are the best fit. We do not operate on a first come, first served basis.
