Hudson's Story
Hudson (black)

Hi, my name is Hudson but my foster family calls me Thumper because that’s the sound I make when I walk, and especially if I try to run. You see, my coordination is really poor because I’m a very wobbly cat. It’s some kind of neurological thing that I inherited.

I arrived in foster care with my Mom, Abby, in April (2025) and I might have been 8 months old at the time. I made it pretty obvious quite quickly that I really like human attention. I love to get pets and cuddles. Sometimes I have to get the humans to pick me up and put me on the sofa or bed. I’m still getting used to being picked up, so they only scoop me up short distances and keep me close to the floor. It’s strange not being on the floor because I can’t jump on to furniture and need ramps and steps to get up and down from them. My fosters got pet steps so I can get on and off the bed without help and put a foam ramp in front of the sofa. My future family will have to get me ramps and steps too, otherwise I won’t be able to hang out with them and that would be sad.

My foster parents think I am pretty sweet and a super cute guy. They know that it would be good for me to have a companion kitty because I love following their big floofy cat around and try to do what he does, except I can’t get in the cat trees. I chat a fair bit too and like to talk when I play, and when I am getting wet food. I love to play with feather toys, and wind-up mice, laser lights, and balls.

I have gotten used to the small family dog and would be OK with one that is gentle and doesn’t chase me ever. I can’t run well at all because of my wobbles, which are really pretty noticeable.

As for kids, they can’t chase me either or do anything that makes me panic, so they need to be extra kind and careful. I am going to need an understanding home because when I walk fast or try to run, my feet go everywhere and I can fall, and thump about. It may seem funny, but it isn’t safe for me to be scared, that’s when I could hurt myself because my legs really do go out from under me. It’s also really important that if someone tries to pick me up that they are careful to make sure that I don’t jump down from their arms or get dropped and that I can use a ramp or pet steps to get off furniture.

Another thing you should know about me, besides the fact that you’ll need to make accommodations for my mobility, is that I had a vet check out my hernia recently, and it looks like it is stable, no need for an operation, and likely related to my birth.

So to sum me up, I’m friendly, love attention, love other cats, have a neurological thing that makes me uncoordinated and thumpy, and I’m cute. Plus you never have to worry about me getting on the kitchen counters.

Please consider adopting Hudson into your loving home. If you can’t adopt him, please share his story and help him find his forever home.

If you are interested in adopting Hudson, please contact us at frederictoncarma@gmail.com.

Fill out an adoption application here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfZFfrReR_SFRgIQYba6kxfNkxsiQ0bktXtIIrJb_ZRPKQbcg/viewform?fbclid=IwAR1U6c4NbehUd-O2WaqGAxpZvrcuovBBlDXKgSEGbvyZGPkORDyB21KaHGs

As of October 2024, the adoption donations will be:

- Adult cat (over 12 months): $125
- Kitten (12 months and under): $200

Would you like to make a one-time donation to help cats like Hudson?
