What’s not to love about sweet Houdini? This adorable cat is full grown but still has the personality of a kitten. She loves to run around, explore, and play! If she hears voices outside of her room, she’ll jump onto the door and dangle so she can peek out the window! When she’s spent all of her energy, Houdini enjoys snuggling and will even let you pick her up and hold her. Due to her FeLV+ status, Houdini should either be the only cat in the home or join a family with other FeLV+ cats. Once you meet this wonderful girl for yourself, you’ll absolutely want to take her home with you!
Fall Update 2025: Hands down, I’m the main greeter in my room. When I see the humans come and go, I’m the one to ask for and get the first round of attention from these 2 legged wonders. I take my share of the pets, then I’m done with you and off I go! As one volunteer commented, I don’t have any close friends, likewise I don’t have any enemies and I don’t like laps. Oh, those silly humans. Still, folks are very drawn to me and love seeing me in my classic pose- in the top of a cat tree with my arms draped over the edge of the ledge and dribbling down as far as they might go. I’m doing well and I think my bigger personality coupled with some of my quirks really add to this room and make it special. Houdini
Spring Update 2025: I get the award for being the best poser. I'm best known for draping my long striped legs over the edge of a ledge in a cat tree. I tip and angle my head just so and folks find my look super tempting and down right adorable! Friendly and social, I'm pretty quick to greet visitors to my room. More recently, I've been playing a ridiculous game of "Slappy Hands" with Daisy, a larger, solid black kitty in my room. Imagine if you will, we're both lying down on the floor, our paws nicely slapping back and forth and then I suddenly go for her neck with my mouth! She's not expecting it as we're having such a sweet moment, but I can't help myself. LOL. There's no harm done and I can hear gasps and maybe laughs from the human observers as no harm done! I'm doing fine health wise and with a smaller number of kitties in my room, I have the extra benefit of getting even more attention from the humans who care and love on me daily.
Winter Update 2025: I had heard the phrase what comes around, goes around. Well, now I really understand it. I'll admit I previously have not been very kind to Charlie, one of the kitties in my room. He seemed like an easy one to pick on as he's small in stature and at times nearly bald as he struggles with seasonal hair loss. Bad me! Well, it was my turn to be targeted and by a petite but yes, spicy feline, Micha. She gave me a whopping while a volunteer witnessed and perhaps now, I'll be slightly more kind to all in my room. My volunteer friend Scott says I can be a bit of a loner but feels I'm seeking him out even more for some pets and loving. I know this makes him happy. He also comments that playing laser dot tag still keeps my attention and keeps me on my toes. I'm in good health so I have plenty of time to show my roomies more kindness. HOUDINI
