Hostas's Story

Age: 6mo

Sex: MN

Weight: 8lbs

Meet Hostas, a ridiculously cute little tuxedo boy with the most unique white markings and tiny black “sleeves” that make it look like he’s wearing a sweater! And while his looks are certainly memorable, it’s his silly little personality that really steals the show.

Hostas came to us as an undersocialized kitten from a shelter in New York City, and he has been working hard with our behavior team to learn just how wonderful people can be. These days, he’s becoming quite the social little guy—and he has discovered that people are pretty great places to hang out.

He loves curling up on the chest of some of his favorite people, and he’s perfectly content to keep them company while they work, often settling in behind them in their office chair like the tiniest coworker. When he’s feeling especially social, he’ll come right out to ask for pets and rubs, purring, leaning into attention, flopping over, and showing off his belly.

And Hostas is so silly. He loves to play, gets especially excited about wand toys, and has a knack for turning even a normal interaction into something entertaining. He may start out a little unsure with someone new, but give him some time to check you out and he may surprise you by coming over for pets all on his own.

Transitions can be a little hard for Hostas, so his new family should be prepared to give him some patience and time as he adjusts to a new home and new people. Once he feels comfortable, though, his sweet and silly personality really starts to shine.

Hostas has made such a sweet transformation during his time with us, and we can’t wait to see him continue that journey with his own people. If you’re looking for a playful, quirky little companion who might eventually decide your chest—or your office chair—is his favorite place to be, Hostas may be your guy.

*To fill out an adoption application for Hostas, click 'visit our profile page', then under 'adoption policy' click the 'adoption application' button!
