HOPE's Story
Happy Fall! The calendar might say we are in the "ber" months, but the temperatures are still warm! That means we are still struggling through kitten season. We desperately need to make room to get Moms, kittens and other cats in and fixed before the cold comes. Please consider adopting! And tell your friend to adopt too! We still have lots of kittens and some of our older cats have been here awhile, so there is a cat for everyone!! Remember,
adopting saves TWO cats lives! Adopting one cat will free up a cage so we can help another. Together we can make countless more cats & kittens lives better. Win! Win! The kitties thank you too!

We are searching for a experienced cat parents who are fluent in "cat speak" to adopt some of our kitties who have been at the shelter awhile and need more socialization and time to adjust to their new life- like Hope!
If you think this is you and you're looking for a new kitty to add to the family read on!

This is Hope!
Hope domestic is short haired brown tabby with white spayed female, up to date on her shots, around 5 years old and available for adoption to be an indoor ONLY cat from Griffith Animal Control/Treasured Friends Rescue in Highland Northwest Indiana.

Hi, I'm Hope!
I was living outside in the cold when I was an older kitten. It was hard finding food and taking care of myself ..I always hungry. One day I found some good food and all of a sudden I was in a trap and brought to the shelter. When I came to the shelter, I think it's been almost 4 years ago now, there was a lot of kitties and since I was a little shy I didn't get as much attention. I'm still a little unsure and shy around humans. I like humans and I'll get close. I like to play and be taken care of, but I'm still unsure.
I think I'm a one person kinda cat and if like to develop a real bond with someone.. That's just not possible at the shelter, but it would be in a real home. I would love if someone picked me and wanted me! I think my person would give me time to warm up on my own, give me space to do it and respect my boundaries, until I feel safe. I think if someone wanted to give me a chance, then I would trust them, relax and could be a kitty again!
I'm waiting for the right person who can give me that. I know that person is out there or I wouldn't have been brought to the shelter for a second chance at the good life!
I am sweet and promise to be a good friend and quiet companion and maybe even more someday!
I know I'm not a kitten anymore. I know I'll be passed over for being shy AND for being older but I'm still hoping someone is willing to give me a chance. I still want to be loved and have a real home.
I'm at the shelter, so please come by to see me! I like other kitties, so a home with another kitty (with the proper introduction) would be the best! Since I'm still shy, your resident kitty will help me flourish and show me how kitties have positive interactions with you! Plus I love to play, so if you have a playful older kitty that needs a companion I would love that! However, I dont know if I would like dogs or kids. I've never been around either so not sure if I would like them. A quiet home might be better to help me feel safe.

If you have some patience and are looking for a kitty that really needs a home, I hope you'll consider me! I'll always be there for you and will can be friends forever !! Please make an appointment to come and see me at the shelter. I will probably hide, but I'd secretly love you if you finally gave me my forever home.

Please call 219-922-1766 and leave a message to set up a meeting with Hope!
Hope will not be a "normal" kitty as soon as you take her home. She will need time to adjust. She will need a room she can stay in until she gets used to her new surroundings and you won't be able to pet her right away. We can help you and give you lita if tips if you need them. Please consider this in your decision because it would set her back to be returned. She needs someone who will really be there for her. If that is what you are looking for, please fill out an adoption application which can be found online at TreasuredFriendsRescue.org or follow the link from our profile at Petfinder ( scroll down all the way for the link to the adoption application)
*****************************************
Griffith Animal Control, in partnership with Treasured Friends Animal Rescue believes in giving kitties that others wouldn't give a chance, a helping hand at getting a forever home. Our volunteers work with shy and/or unsocialized kitties everyday to gain their trust to show them they are safe and no one will hurt them. However, when the kitties go to a new home, some will require extra time to get used to new surroundings and different people. Please consider giving a kittie who might need a little time to get used to a new home, a chance. This is a serious commitment and it sets the kitties back in their level of trust if they are given up after a few weeks or months. We are always here to help with any questions Please, only apply if you are an experienced cat owner or are willing to provide patience and good forever home.
Thank you!
