Hilda's Story

Hilda is a petite 2-year-old brown tabby who came to us from local animal control. She is a sweet girl who enjoys pets and toys! Hilda is a special needs kitty with balance/coordination issues likely due to ataxia secondary to an infection she had upon entry, which she was treated for. She is a bit wobbly and has some awkward movements very typical of cats with mild cerebellar hypoplasia. She is able to eat, drink, and use the litter box on her own very well! Hilda doesn't seem to mind the other cats, but due to her balance/coordination issues can struggle to get away or defend herself in the way most cats do, so any cat friends would need to be friendly. She has her buddy Lotus, who she hangs out with in the cat room and is gentle but playful and snuggly toward her. She does use the cat trees and hammocks, she just takes her time getting up and down, but they are her favorite nap spot! Now that she is free roaming and able to be more active, her balance and coordination has gotten better. She still moves a little funny and might lose her balance a bit, but her progress has been fantastic to see. Hilda unfortunately had to have most of her teeth removed due to their poor condition, but she eats dry and wet food great!
